Honey Roasted Almond Cherry Cheese Ball New Years Eve Recipe

 

What You Need:


  • 1 (8 oz) pkg. cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 C Muenster cheese, shredded
  • 1 C white Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 T cherry liqueur
  • 1 C frozen dark sweet cherries, thawed, drained and divided
  • 1/3 C honey roasted almonds, sliced and divided

How to Make It:


  1. Place the cream cheese, Muenster cheese and Cheddar cheese in a food processor. 
  2. Pour in the liqueur and process until smooth.
  3. Remove to a large mixing bowl with a rubber spatula.
  4. Chop 3/4 C of the cherries.
  5. Stir the cherries and all but 2 T of the almonds into the cheese mixture being sure to combine them well.
  6. The cheese mixture will have a pink tint after the cherries are mixed in.
  7. Line a 3 C size bowl with cheese cloth.
  8. Place the cheese into the lined bowl and form to fit the bowl.
  9. Cover the bowl and refrigerate until the cheese has firmed.
  10. Unmold the cheese onto a serving plate.
  11. Garnish the top of the cheese ball with the remaining cherries, cut in halves and the remaining 2 T of almonds.

Serving Size:  24


Serve this cheese ball with mini toast or small crackers.  Honey roasted sliced almonds are used more often in salads and can be found in packages in the produce or salad section of the grocery store.


Broiled Burger Bites


What You Need:

 

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 2 t minced onion
  • 1 t garlic powder
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1/4 t pepper
  • 4 (1 oz) American cheese slices, quartered
  • 8 slices of toasted white bread trim crust and quartered
  • 2 small plum tomatoes, sliced thin
  • 16 hamburger pickle slices
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Mayonnaise

How to Make It:


  1. Turn the oven broiler on and allow it to heat.
  2. Crumble the meat into a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the onion, garlic powder, salt and pepper to the meat.
  4. Mix all the ingredients together well with your hands.
  5. Shape the meat mixing into sixteen bite size patties.
  6. Place the patties on a broiler pan.
  7. Broil 6 in from the heat for 8 minutes turning once and being sure the patties are cooked through before removing.
  8. Remove the burgers and place a quarter slice of cheese on top of each burger.
  9. Serve the burgers with the toast quarters, tomato, pickle and other condiments on the side. 

Serving Size:  16


Mix and shape the burgers ahead of time. They will remain fresh in the refrigerator until ready to broil.  Be sure to get small plum tomatoes so the slices will fit well on the small burgers. 


Italian Swiss Cheese Slices


What You Need:

 

  • 1 (10 oz) pkg. refrigerated bread dough
  • 1 C Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 C mayonnaise
  • 1/2 C sour cream
  • 1 (7 oz) pkg. dry Italian salad dressing mix
  • 1/2 C red bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 C green bell pepper, diced

How to Make It:


  1. Set the oven temperature to 375 degrees.
  2. Spray a bread pan with a non stick cooking spray.
  3. Place the dough in the prepared pan and bake 50 minutes.
  4. Allow the bread to cool before slicing.
  5. Dump the cheese into a large mixing bowl.
  6. Add the mayonnaise and sour cream to the cheese.
  7. Sprinkle in the Italian dressing mix.
  8. Stir together until all the ingredients are incorporated together.
  9. Slice the bread into 32 slices.
  10. Spread 1 t of the cheese mixture over each slice of bread.
  11. Sprinkle the peppers evenly over the cheese mixture.
  12. Cover a baking sheet with a piece of aluminum foil.
  13. Place the slices of bread in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  14. Bake 10 minutes or until just starting to crisp.

Serving Size:  32


These bread slices will be the hit of the party.  Make them with chopped onion, chopped mushrooms and your favorite type of shredded cheese for a change of pace.


Bacon Onion Nibblers


What You Need:


  • 1 (3 oz) pkg. cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/4 C real bacon bits
  • 2 T onion, chopped
  • 1/8 t pepper
  • 1 (8 oz) pkg. refrigerated crescent rolls

How to Make It:


  1. Place the cream cheese, bacon bits and onion into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Sprinkle in the pepper and mix until all the ingredients are incorporated together.
  3. Separate the crescent rolls into 2 rectangular pieces and pinch the seams together.
  4. Spread the cheese mixture on to both pieces of crescent dough.
  5. Start with the longest side of the rectangle and roll the crescent dough up.
  6. Cut each roll into 16 slices.
  7. Place a piece of aluminum foil sprayed with a non stick cooking spray on a large baking sheet.
  8. Heat the oven temperature up to 350 degrees.
  9. Lay each slice onto the prepared baking sheet cut side down.
  10. Bake 15 minutes or until a nice golden brown.

Serving Size:  32


Real bacon bits can be found in the salad dressing section of your local grocery store.  Better yet if you have some bacon go ahead and fry it up crispy, crumble and use in the mixture.
