  5. Spatula
  6. Mixing Bowl
  7. Large Plate

Ingredients for this recipe:

  • 1 cup of pancake mix (Makes 10-12 pancakes)
  • Butter or cooking spray
  • ¾ cups of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • 1 egg
  • Maple Syrup

Preparation for this recipe:

1. Heat a skillet over a medium to low heat. (If you are using an electric griddle, heat it to 375 degrees).  The skillet is ready when you place a drop of water into it and it sizzles and is gone very quickly.  Now lightly grease the skillet with butter or cooking spray.

2. In a bowl combine the cup of pancake mix; milk; oil and egg and stir with a wire whisk until all of the lumps are gone.  Let it stand for one to two minutes so it can thicken.

3. Using a ladle, pour less than ¼ cup of the batter onto the lightly greased skillet. This is the correct amount for one pancake.

4. Using a spatula, turn the pancakes as soon as the top of them forms bubbles.  However, first check the bottom of the pancakes with a spatula to ensure they are golden brown. Adjust the heat accordingly so as not to burn them.  TIP:  The first few pancakes will be light in color if the heat is not high enough.

5. Once they are sufficiently brown, take them off the skilled with the spatula and place them on a plate.  Add a few slices of butter under and on top of the pancakes. To top it off, add maple syrup.  If you want to add fresh fruit; a few strawberries or blueberries will be the proverbial cherry on top!

Once you get the hang of making pancakes, you can try adding fruit or nuts or ever chocolate chips directly into the batter. Just have fun and enjoy!
